A twin screw extruder are versatile equipment used to precess and extrude various materials, particularly polymers and plastics , into the desired shape and size. Unlike simple single screw extruder, the twin screw extruder has two parallel screws in a heated barrel . There are two kinds of configuration as the direction of rotation of the screws either corotating (both screws rotating in the same direction) or the counter-rotating (screws rotating in the opposite direction).
When the twin screws extruder working , they create a self-wiping action that prevents material buildup on the barrel walls, ensuring consistent and uniform extrusion.
